Sunflower season is officially here! 🌻 The sunflowers at Dix Park are now in peak bloom, and if you’ve been waiting to visit, now’s the time. Peak bloom typically lasts for about two weeks (weather permitting), making this one of Raleigh’s shortest, but sweetest, summer traditions. A few fun facts before you go: * The sunflower field spans nearly 5 acres. * Approximately 250,000 sunflower seeds are planted each spring. * Admission is completely FREE, and the field is open daily from dawn to dusk. * The flowers aren’t just beautiful, they help support pollinators like bees and butterflies, and after blooming, the seeds are left behind as a food source for local wildlife. * Tens of thousands of visitors stop by the field each year during sunflower season. If you’re planning a visit, early mornings and evenings tend to be the most comfortable times to go this time of year. And remember, the flowers are for everyone to enjoy, so Dix Park asks visitors to leave them unpicked and stay on designated paths. Peak bloom doesn’t last long, so don’t wait too much longer to make plans! 🌻
